About Us

Steven Berman, E.A., Principle of TaxPlus Financial Services has been a tax adviser since 1990 and has offered financial services since 1994. He is an Enrolled Agent and an Investment Advisor Solicitor* and is licensed in Real Estate and Insurance as well. Steven combines his skills in tax preparation, his knowledge of insurance, mortgages and real estate with a deep commitment to support his clients to find solutions to their financial issues.

Christian Bernard, Tax Manager, joined the TaxPlus team in January 2009. Christian has 13 years experience in tax and bookkeeping services including: tax planning and tax preparation, small business bookkeeping and new business formation and consulting. In addition to managing our Tax Services, Christian is expanding our Bookkeeping Services for small businesses and individuals. He works closely with Steven to offer our clients consultations for tax planning and small business development.

Tax Preparers:

Marjan Arasteh joined the TaxPlus team in January 2010. Marjan Graduated from USC with an Accounting degree in 1993, and has worked in both corporate accounting as well as big and small public accounting firms. Marjan’s work experience includes tax preparation, bookkeeping, and consulting. When not working, Marjan volunteers at Glide and enjoys cooking, and traveling.

Jim Cardinale, E.A., has been a tax preparer at TaxPlus Financial Services since 1998. With thirty years of tax preparation and tax consulting experience, Jim brings expert knowledge to the firm. Jim also maintains his own tax practice in the San Francisco Richmond District. Jim has a variety of interests and hobbies that include listening to jazz, growing flowers, and gourmet cooking.

Micah Epps, Financial Services Assistant to Steven Berman, has been with TaxPlus Financial Services since 2001. He provides client support in financial services, mortgage loans, and insurance. Micah is also a certified tax professional in California and a registered tax preparer with the California Tax Education Council.

Andrea Iida joined TaxPlus for the 2009 tax season and is back again this season. Prior to becoming a tax preparer she worked for many years in non-profit organizations. Since becoming a preparer, Andrea has worked in a variety of tax environments, including large corporations and specialized practice. She has experience in individual, corporate and trust returns. She is known professionally as someone who is able to put clients at ease. When not working she watches news, cooking shows, does Saturday wine tastings, and spends time with friends.

Francis Law has joined Tax Plus as a Tax Preparer for the 2010 tax season. Francis, a CPA since 1993, has a Master of Science degree in Taxation with top honors from Golden Gate University. He has assumed various crucial roles for over 19 years in Tax, Audit and Accounting in private, governmental and non-profit work environments. Francis is known for his optimistic attitude and energy. His life motto is to create a positive difference in others' lives.

Operations Staff:

Marge Golden has been the Operations Manager at TaxPlus Financial Services since 2002. Marge brought to TaxPlus considerable business skills gained through working in both the corporate and non-profit world. In addition to her work at TaxPlus, Marge volunteers as the Annual Campaign Manager for the All Stars Project of the SF Bay Area. The All Stars Project is a non-profit organization that sponsors after school, performance based youth development programs for inner city kids.

Ahna Guedmin has joined TaxPlus as an Office Assistant for the 2010 tax season. Ahna has 7 years of experience in Financial Services including: Finance, Tax, and Project Coordination. Ahna has a Bachelors degree in Business Management. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Carl Lawrence has been with TaxPlus for 11 years as the Saturday receptionist and has returned for the 2010 tax season. Carl worked for Gulf/Chevron for 27 years in accounting and has been with a podiatric certification board for the past 16 years. His interests include: photography,
cooking, needlepoint, music, theatre and enjoying life.

Elizabeth Maynard has been with TaxPlus for 10 years holding various positions in management and operations. Elizabeth is a UC Berkeley Graduate with a degree in International Economics & Politics and Community Economic Development. She has over 20 years experience working in small business, corporate and non-profit settings. She avidly follows international political and economic trends and plans to take her interest into health care and economic efficacy in the prevention of disease.
